What
to Expect
When you
go to a place for the first time
there are always questions about
what you might face. We don’t
want you to feel uncomfortable
when you visit us, so here is
brief overview of what you can
expect when you visit Betta-View
Hills on a typical Sunday
morning at 10:30 a.m.
First, you will be met by warm
and friendly members. Our
visitors always remark about how
friendly the Betta-View Hills
church is. As our worship begins
you will find it to be simple
but meaningful, sincere and
spiritual.
Two of our young men get us
started by reading a passage of
Scripture and leading the church
in prayer. One of our men will
make an official welcome to all.
This will be followed by another
prayer by one of our male
members (Philippians 4:6).
We will then begin our song
service. Our singing is acapella,
which means everyone is uplifted
and God is praised in song as
each person utilizes their
God-given instruments of voice
and heart (Ephesians 5:19).
Next we will commune with our
Lord through the Lord’s Supper
(Matthew 26:26-28). It is here
that we remember the great
sacrifice our Lord Jesus offered
for the sins of us all (Hebrews
10:10). Just as the early church
(1 Corinthians 11:26) remembered
this great sacrifice through the
emblems of unleavened bread
(unsalted cracker) and fruit of
the vine (grape juice), so to do
we praise God for the gift of
Jesus through this memorial.
Following the Communion we will
take time to give of our
financial means to the Lord (1
Corinthians 16:2; 2 Corinthians
9:7). This money is used to
continue the work in which Betta-View
Hills is engaged to teach the
Bible to others in our
neighborhood, both in the U.S.
and in foreign countries. After
another song our preacher will
present a Bible-based sermon
which will help us all draw
closer in our daily walk with
the Father. At the conclusion of
the sermon our preacher will
extend an invitation for anyone
who would like to come and be
baptized (Acts 2:38); re-commit
their lives to Christ; ask
forgiveness of past sins;
request prayers, or just needs
our help (Galatians 6:2), to
come forward. Those requests
will be met by a loving and
caring church family.
To close our service one of our
ministers will make News &
Calendar announcements pertinent
to the church and we will be led
by a final song and dismissal
prayer.
Following our services we know
that many of our members will
simply want to shake your hand
and thank-you for coming and
visiting us…and also give you a
warm invitation to return very
soon!
We hope this little overview
helps you feel right at home
when you visit us at the Betta-View
Hills Church of Christ.
